Summary:
The Project Engineer will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and support Construction Managers and Project Managers in delivering high-quality projects for our clients. Reporting to the Construction Manager or the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will collaborate with the Field Operations Team at site to ensure the successful execution of projects from initiation to substantial completion. The Project Engineer will lead the interface with Engineering, technical documentation reviews, manage RFIs, and ensure accurate construction drawings. They will collaborate with the Site Quality Team on non-conformance reports, manage job book volumes, and ensure all required permits are completed before project commencement. This role is part of the Site Management team and supports the overall planning and monitoring of works at site as well as client interface at site as required.
Requirements:
- HSQE:
- Participates in safety meetings and All Hands meetings, as required.
- Performs Safety Walks and Quality Walks regularly and ensures the Field Engineers perform them as well.
- Reviews HSE compliance data and use hazard identification tools.
- Verifies project hours used for safety statistics and KPIs.
- Supports the quality control plan to ensure processes are implemented according to the plan and are consistent.
- Provides feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with the Site Quality Team for the issuance and resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Ensures all required project documentation is available and up-to-date in Procore, including quality documentation.
- Participates in job book audit reviews and manages job book volumes.
- Supports completion of all required permitting activities before commencement.
- Ensures training is provided and certifications are maintained on field staff to comply with EMS requirements.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project in line with the client’s expectations.
- Facilitates coordination between internal departments (engineering, safety, procurement, quality,) and external stakeholders.
- Participates in client liaison activities and maintains client relationships as required.
- Planning:
- Participates in the preparation and development of the Project Execution Plan.
- Supports preparation of the project budget and schedule prior to the commencement of the project if required
- Assists Construction/Project Manager in updating the project schedule on a weekly basis.
- Provides coordination of all work disciplines for the efficient and safe performance of the construction work.
- Assists in preparation for and participation in internal morning and afternoon meetings (POD and POND meetings) as well as in daily client POD meetings, weekly client project meetings, and monthly client meetings, leading assigned sections as required.
- Ensures POD and equipment boards are created and updated on a regular basis.
- Reviews and monitors all project trackers and POD sheets to ensure accuracy.
- Project Controls:
- Supports monitoring of production rates against schedule and budget.
- Understands and explains risk and opportunities management.
- Liaises with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, and vendors at the direction of the Project Manager.
- Ensures the project team and all associated subcontractors understand and adhere to the client contract, associated exhibits, and project specific agreements.
- Supports creation of internal and external reports.
- Construction Coordination and Field & Commissioning Support:
- Coordinates with field supervision to ensure that the work is executed in accordance with design, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Participates in daily site walks and field coordination meetings to assess progress and address site issues.
- Assists in resolving constructability issues in the field in collaboration with engineering and construction leads.
- Supports coordination between trades and subcontractors to minimize schedule impacts and improve workflow.
- Monitors long-lead equipment and material procurement to avoid schedule delays.
- Coordinates with construction teams to confirm readiness to receive and install procured items.
- Verifies materials and equipment delivered to site meet design specifications and submittal requirements.
- Supports planning and execution of pre-functional and functional testing.
- Participates in system walkdowns and punch list development and resolution.
- Engineering:
- Leads the review of technical documentation and serve as the point of contact with the engineering team.
- Manages and controls the generation, issuance, resolution, and close-out of requests for information (RFIs), technical inquiry forms, and transmittals/submittals.
- Ensures that construction drawings and specifications are transmitted to the correct parties.
- Ensures that all superseded drawings, specifications, and other construction documents are marked as such, removed from the active construction, and replaced with current versions.
- Ensures that field redline drawings of all construction work are maintained on site and that final record drawings are generated upon completion of the project.
- Contract:
- Understands all obligations under the project contract and the need for documentation of changes.
- Assists in identification, development, and documentation of changes.
- Records, tracks and assesses, with guidance, the impact of internal and external changes to project requirements, scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk or HSE.
- Understands the contractual requirements for change approval and handover documentation.
- Operates a company vehicle in a safe manner in all types of conditions.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Directs, guides, and coaches Field Engineers to ensure site activities are understood, completed, and follow established processes through quality checks.
- Verifies Field Engineer’s completion of project-related obligations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related degree or any combination of education and experience (2 years’ experience = 1 year education) required.
- 2 or more years of field engineering or project management experience in the construction industry preferred.
- 1 or more years of solar, HV, BESS, or Wind EPC required.
- Ability to travel 25-100% domestically (project specific) required.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to lead and support the site team in technical, quality, and safety aspects, utilizing systems in place.
- Advanced level of knowledge in:

Anticipated base salary range: $87,000 - $108,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
